Modern dance, as a dance style, evolved from a desire to express a dancers own style and interpretation of traditionally structured dance steps. A key component of modern dance is the expression of feeling through movement and the rejection of structured technique found in styles like Ballet.

Modern is the technical form of Jazz and has a variety of styles. These include Fosse, as well as the more graceful lyrical dance. Classes improve a student’s sense of performance and are excellent for developing co-ordination, balance, flexibility and confidence. As well as free-work, each class follows the ISTD syllabus.
